Ekaterina Balaban graduated as Master of arts in Sociology from the European University in St. Petersburg. During 5 years worked as sociologist and conducted several researches on different social communities (among them were unemployed people, adolescents in suburbs, homeless children, minor moms). Since 2016 has begun studying documentary photography. Graduated from the DocDocDoc school and Rodchenko Art School .
As documentary artist and photographer has been published in online magazines such as the Calvert Journal, Meduza, the Village, Bird in flight, Batenka etc.  Participated in art exhibitions.
